The Hotel - Where to Stay in La Fortuna Costa Rica

The Volcano Lodge Hotel + Thermal Experience is a 4-star hotel committed to helping its guests relax and live in harmony with nature. They engage in sustainability practices like saving resources and protecting ecosystems and wildlife in the surrounding areas. The hotel has a rustic-natural vibe, and you definitely feel one with nature no matter where you are on the expansive property.

The Rooms

All 66 rooms at the Volcano Lodge are air conditioned (I'm from the southern US and might die without it!) with coffee/tea makers, safe, TV, and they open to a patio where you can sit and enjoy the outdoors. There are three room types: Superior, Thermal Superior, and Junior Suite. We stayed in a Thermal Superior room, and it was AMAZING. We could walk out onto our patio at any time and enjoy a nice soak in the warm, mineral-rich water. I highly recommend booking this one!

Amenities

The Volcano Lodge Hotel has so many great amenities, it is hard to pick a favorite! There are two thermal pools, one of which has a swim-up bar, and two cold water pools. For an extra bit of relaxation, you can sit in one of two hot springs jacuzzis or the sauna. If you are super into wellness like me, they have an outdoor workout space perfect for some morning yoga, or a spa where you can unwind after a long day of adventuring.

The hotel is a perfect oasis to relax and recharge worry free!

Restaurant

There's also an on site restaurant if you don't want to think about where to go eat. At breakfast, the staff will put out extra fruit to attract birds for you to watch while you eat! It was the highlight of my mornings. We ate there most nights because it was so convenient and we could hop right in the pool afterward.

Things to Do Nearby

La Fortuna has so many adventures to offer, and I have an entire guide dedicated to it. Check it out for a sample itinerary, things to do, when to go, and costs!

My number one suggestion is the Bogarin Trail to see some sloths. We got super lucky and saw 13! It is a great way to spend an afternoon out in nature.
